Message from the Superintendent: Changes to the final days of school
Dear Fairport families,
We continue to monitor the weather forecast, and official predictions continue to show extreme heat and weather patterns over the next several days.
As a response to the predicted heat index throughout the coming week, the FCSD will have half-days for elementary school (K-5) buildings on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (6/23, 6/24, 6/25).
Secondary students taking end-of-year assessments and Regents exams will follow their exam schedule, as tests will be administered in climate-controlled spaces.
Please see the below schedules for our elementary schools:
- Jefferson Avenue: 8:10 - 10:55 a.m.
- Dudley School: 8:55 - 11:40 a.m.
- Northside: 8:55 - 11:40 a.m.
- Brooks Hill: 8:55 - 11:40 a.m.
NOTE:
- The final day of school for Brooks Hill and Jefferson Avenue will be Wednesday, June 25, as previously announced.
- The final day of school for Northside and Dudley will be Thursday, June 26, as previously announced. Thursday will be a half day for Northside and Dudley, as per the existing schedule.
Regular school bus transportation is in effect. Students will be transported to and from school on their regular school buses and routes.
For families with children in universal pre-Kindergarten in Brooks Hill, start time will be 9:30 as usual and students need to be picked up at 12:30 p.m. If your child is in universal pre-Kindergarten with Gateway at Dudley, start time will be 9:00 as usual and students need to be picked up at 12:00 p.m. If your child is in universal pre-Kindergarten with Generations at Dudley, start time will be 9:30 as usual and students need to be picked up at 12:30 p.m.
If you have a student who attends universal pre-Kindergarten at the Generations or Care-a-lot site, please look for a direct communication from them regarding their program hours.
If your elementary school student is part of a wrap-care program (YMCA, Generations or others), expect communication directly from those programs.
Please keep the following information in mind if your students are attending school or taking an exam next week:
- Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, and will have many opportunities to refill them
- Students should wear light and loose-fitting clothing to stay comfortable
- Encourage your students to take breaks during physical activity
Thank you, as always, for your flexibility and support of our Fairport schools and students. Please reach out to your building principals with any additional questions.
