Adding, Dividing & Multiplying Money and Tax (percentages and decimals)
ADDING:
* Write down the numbers, one under other, with the decimal points lined up
* You can add zeros, so the numbers have the same length
* Then add normally, remembering to bring down the decimal point!
MULTIPLYING (Calculating Tax and Totals):
*Taxes are expressed as percentages. The sales tax Monroe County is currently 8%
*To calculate tax, convert the percentage to a decimal. %1 = 1/100 = .01 %8 = 8/100 = .08
Then multiply the Sub Total (cost of items before tax) by either 1 plus the decimal (x 1.08) to get the total, or multiply the Sub Total by the decimal alone (x .08) to get the tax alone and add the tax to the Sub Total to get the Total.
DIVIDING
*Divide the total by the number of diners. The result should be be caculated to two decimal places (Cents). If there is a remainder, the diners will decide who pays the difference.

Multiple Diners
It's common for a restaurant to provide a single check or bill for a meal with multiple diners.
For some it is customary to divide the bill evenly, while others choose to pay for the meals they ordered.
Total Bill from Restaurant with Tax:
Total $74.70
Tax (8%) x 1.08

Total $80.68
To Split the Bill evenly:
Total $80.68 รท 3 = $26.89 R1 (one person pays 26.90)
For each person to pay for their meal separately:
