Mr. Barker has been the lead social studies teacher at
Johanna Perrin since 1995. He has been the director of the 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C. for over a decade. He founded and ran the Johanna Perrin Extreme Sports Club for a decade. He has served as an advisor for the JP Ski Club, Yorker's Local History Club, and as an Odyssey of the Mind advisor. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from
St. John Fisher College and a Master of Science degree from
Nazareth College of Rochester.
Mr. Mike Barker is in his 22nd year as a social studies teacher. This is his 19th year teaching at the Johanna Perrin Middle School. Previously he taught at Fairport High School and at the Newark Middle School. He also teaches in the summer 
Mr. Barker is a life-long resident of the Perinton/Fairport Community. He and his wife Jody, have four children. Their daughter Amanda is a graduate of Fairport High School and Seton Hall University. She just graduated from the Masters program at Nazareth College of Rochester. She is an English Teacher at Charlotte in the Rochester City School District. Their son David is a graduate of Fairport High School and a senior at West Virginia University. Their daughter Maggie is a 2008 graduate of Fairport High School (pictured above with her siblings) and a sophmore at St. John Fisher College. Their daughter Katie is a senior at Fairport High School and a member of the 2008 Section V Champion Fairport Women's Soccer Team. (Pictured below)
Mr. Barker retired in 2007 after 19 years as a Coach of the Fairport High School Wrestling Team. Coach Barker served as the Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Modified Coach during his nineteen year tenure with the wrestling program. Mr. Barker still volunteers his time with the wrestling program. He likes to help Head Coach Mike Kohl whenever possible. This past season Coach Barker became the announcer at FHS for the Varsity Wrestling Team. Coach Barker really enjoyed his experience as the Voice of the RAIDER'S. 
Mr. Barker has been involved in local government since 1988 in many various roles. He has been an appointed and an elected official for the Village of Fairport. He was twice elected to the Perinton Town Council. He is currently a member of the Monroe County Legislature where he was just made the Vice-President of the Legislature.
