Room 420’s Kindergarten Corner
~ January 20th ~
PLEASE LABEL ALL SNOW CLOTHES!
When the temperatures allow, we will be going outside. It seems to be the best time at the end of the day, so we do not have to dress/undress as much! We will continue a short inside recess most days in the morning. Please make sure your child has proper outside attire every day!
Math
As we continue to count and work with estimating and comparing quantities, we are also exploring 3D shapes called “geometric solids.” While we are not expecting children to master naming the shapes, we are exposing everyone to their names and focusing on making observations about their attributes and comparing how each are alike and different. I hope you enjoyed the pictures on our class blog. I will be posting more like this on a regular basis!
Centers and Reading Groups
As we continue to work together in small groups, students continue to practice skills in centers. As some may have already seen, the work that is completed during this time is beginning to become more in depth and I am asking children to correct mistakes after I look at papers. I am also making children more accountable for their time on task; as, by this point in the year, routines expectations should be solidified by all. **Please help reinforce these skills by holding your child to task until jobs are complete at home as well!
Mrs. Barnum
Mrs. Barnum has been working in our room since October. Today was her last regular day in our classroom. We are excited to know she will continue to volunteer occasionally, so that we will be able to continue to see her throughout the remainder of the year!
Volunteers Needed
We are in need of volunteers on a regular basis from 2:00-3:00 on MONDAY, TUESDAY or FRIDAY to help out during our writing time. If you cannot commit every week, but would like to share the day with someone else every other week or even once a month, let me know and I will try to match people up! Thanks so much for your time!
